Fire Complete Series Sweep with 4–1 Win Over Warner

No. 6 SEU uses steady offense and strong pitching to finish off three-game set

LAKELAND, Fla. — No. 6 Southeastern closed out its weekend series with a 4–1 win over Warner on Friday afternoon at the SEU Softball Field, completing the three-game sweep.

The Fire (33-4, 14-1 Sun) established an early lead and maintained control throughout with consistent at-bats and steady pitching. Ella Brooks sparked the offense in the first inning, reaching base and eventually scoring on an RBI single from Hailey Bradley to give Southeastern a 1–0 edge.

Southeastern added to its lead in the second, working through quality plate appearances to load the bases. Brooks once again contributed, drawing an RBI walk to extend the advantage to 2–0. The Fire continued to apply pressure in the middle innings, as Jaidyn Fuller doubled in the fourth and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Abby Franey, stretching the lead to 3–1.

Warner's lone run came in the fourth inning on an unearned play, but Southeastern answered in the fifth. After putting runners in scoring position, Maria Zelenka delivered a sacrifice bunt to bring home an insurance run and push the lead to 4–1.

In the circle, Emma Vickers provided a composed performance, tossing five innings while allowing just three hits and one unearned run, striking out seven to earn the win. Edan Playa followed with two scoreless innings in relief to secure the save and finish off the sweep.

Southeastern totaled nine hits on the afternoon, with multiple players contributing across the lineup, while the pitching staff and defense limited Warner to just three hits.

The Fire will now turn their attention to a road conference series next weekend, traveling to Brunswick, Georgia, to face No. 23 Coastal Georgia. Southeastern is scheduled to play a doubleheader on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m., followed by the series finale on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m.
