Biography
JUNIOR (2026): Raylei McKinney had just about the best season anyone could ask for. Exploding in her junior year, batting .458 as a power hitter, a school single season second-best 82 hits, and a SEU Single Season record 67 runs batted in with 44 runs scored herself. Her bat power was unparalleled in the Sun Conference, slugging .788 with 13 home runs, including two grand slams. Starting all 58 games she played in, she stole 25 bases, and walked nine times. Her prowess was rewarded through and through, earning three Sun Conference Player of the Week awards, First-Team All-Sun Conference, Sun Conference Player of the Year, a spot on the Sun Conference All-Tournament Team, NAIA First-Team All-American, NFCA NAIA First-Team All-American, and a spot on NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team. She was more than just an athlete, as she excelled in the classroom, earning Sun Conference All-Academic, NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete, and CSC Academic All-District.
SOPHOMORE (2025):Â McKinney smashed all superstitions of a sophomore slump, leveling up nearly every statistical category. Notching a .338 batting average on 61 hits, 48 runs batted in, 34 runs scored, and nine homers. Ramping her slugging percentage to .623 percent, and on-base percentage to .395 percent, all while only striking out 13 times in 167 at bats. Her second season efforts earned her a spot on the All-Sun Conference First-Team and All-Sun Conference Tournament Team. She was named Sun Conference Player of the Week on three different occasions, most notably for her series against Florida Memorial where she was a grand slam short of a home run cycle. Batting 4-7, with six RBIs, three homers, and three runs scored. Her academic prowess matched her athletic prowess, earning Sun Conference All-Academic, CSC Academic All-District, and NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete honors.
FRESHMAN (2024):Â McKinney played in all 59 games and started 56 of them. She finished the season with a .314 batting average and 58 hits, and a team leading five home runs, and notched 17 doubles. She added to her freshman season, scoring 28 runs and stealing 12 bases. In a 9-1 win over Keiser she went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs, scoring once herself. She homered once more in the following game, which was a 5-2 win over Keiser, she went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in that contest. Her series performance earned her Sun Conference Softball Player of the Week. Her impressive season was rewarded with Second-Team All-Sun Conference honors.
