Biography

SOPHOMORE (2025): Playa was instrumental in the overwhelming success of the Fire’s 2025 campaign. Selected as a First-Team All-Sun Conference honoree, Playa became just the third pitcher in Fire history with 20 wins. Posting a 20-7 record, with 20 complete games, 89 strikeouts, and only a 1.71 ERA over 171.2 Innings Pitched. She posted six shutouts, and one save. Against Florida Memorial on 4/18/2025, she dealt 89 pitches in the complete game shutout with eight punch outs, and only four hits allowed earning her Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week. Her three appearances in the Sun Conference Tournament earned her a spot on the Softball All-Sun Conference Tournament Team. She also excelled in the classroom, earning Sun-Conference All-Academic, CSC Academic All-District, and NAIA Daktronic Scholar-Athlete.

FRESHMAN (2024): Playa dominated from the pitching circle in her freshman season. Posting a 1.35 ERA which was 16th in the NAIA and now sits atop the Southeastern record book as the lowest ERA to date in Fire history. In her 30 appearances she started 16 games, pitched 10 complete games and five shutouts and posted a 17-3 record. She racked up 69 strikeouts and held opposing batters to a .234 average. In a 6-0 win over Warner she notched a complete game shutout with six strikeouts. She repeated the complete game shutout in back-to-back wins over Webber International and #22 College of Coastal Georgia, striking out three in the 8-0 (6 Inn.) win over Webber, and striking out three in the 4-0 win over Coastal Georgia. Her excellence earned her NFCA NAIA First-Team All-Region and First-Team All-Sun Conference, and she was a finalist for TUCCI/NFCA NAIA Freshman of the Year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Two-time district champion. 3A regional champion. FHSAA 31 state runner-up in 2023 with a 29-3 overall record. Three-time Miami-Dade All-County First Team. Two-time Miami-Dade Pitcher of the Year. Southeastern Conference MVP.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Stephanie and Edgar. Elementary Education major. Favorite athletes are Saquon Barkley and Jordy Bahl. Favorite teams are Penn State and the Buffalo Bills. Volunteers with a rec-ball softball league for girls ages 10-12.
