Women's Soccer Falls to No. 9 to Open Season

Box Score ORANGE BEACH, Ala.- Southeastern University women's soccer dropped their season opener by a score of 3-1 to No. 9 Tennessee Southern in Orange Beach, Ala.
 
The Fire managed 13 shots with four on goal while the Firehawks put eight of their 16 shots on goal.
 
The Firehawks set the tone early with a goal just five minutes into the contest to take the lead.
 
Both offenses were silenced for the next 60 minutes until the Firehawks managed to find the back of the net for the second time in the 62nd minute.
 
The first Fire goal of the season came in the 70th minute after Viktoria Lederer found a deflection off the post from Madelyn Davidson and put it into the top right corner.
 
Any Fire momentum was stifled with the Firehawks responding with their third goal just three minutes later to take the 3-1 lead and eventual victory.
 
Micaela Owen ended the contest with five saves on eight shots faced.
 
Southeastern will next face off against No. 3 William Carey on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. to end their time in Orange Beach.
