PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. - The Fire got the offense going early and didn't slow down to earn the victory over Trinity Christian 4-1 Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Ramsey Watkins struck the ball into the net first off of a pass from Nanako Omae in the 24th minute. Minutes later Naira Lopez added on to the lead and scored in the 28th minute off of an assist from Karissa King. Lopez has scored three goals in two games.
The Fire continued to control the possession through the half and came out of the half to do more of the same.
One minute after the halftime break the Fire were on the board again from a goal from King in the left corner of the net in the 46th minute. The Trolls responded in the 50th minute with a goal but Southeastern still was able to stay aggressive offensively and kept the momentum going in their favor. Southeastern was able to convert on their final exclamation point of the game with a late goal coming from Mason Schilling in the 86th minute to solidify the victory.
Southeastern finished with 19 shots and four saves.
Southeastern will return home to host #2 William Carey at the SEU Soccer Complex on Saturday, September 3rd at 4:30 p.m.
