It was tough sledding for the second-seeded Fire men's tennis team as they fell to top-seeded Keiser 4-0 this morning in The Sun Conference title match.
Doubles kicked off the day for the Fire with Keiser taking flight one as Soufiane El Mesbahi and Didrik Liljekvist won over Southeastern's
Bruno Pessoa and
Diego Menendez 6-1. Flight three was the doubles clincher for Keiser as Shaheed Alam and Simone Boscatto took a hard fought match from
Alejandro Orihuela and
Victor Olivera 7-5.
Flight two went unfinished with the Seahawks up in another closely contested match, Heber Santos and Yassir Kilani led the Fire's
Mark Griffin and
Piero Fernandez 6-5. The two doubles wins gave the Seahawks the early 1-0 advantage.
Singles play was much of the same as Keiser picked up the three wins necessary in dominant wins in lines two, five and six. Line five finished first as Andrej Kracjik notched a 6-2, 6-0 win over Olivera to push the Keiser lead to 2-0. Petr Cervinka clinched his match over Griffin 6-0, 6-2 to extend the lead to 3-0. Line two was the game sealing win from Liljekvist as he defeated Menendez 6-1, 6-1.
Keiser maintained the advantage in all matches that went unfinished
