Biography
SENIOR (2024-25): Menendez’s senior season was undoubtedly one of the most successful in Southeastern Men’s Tennis History. First-Team NAIA All-American, ITA NAIA Singles All-American, ITA NAIA Doubles All-American, First-Team All-Sun Conference, two-time NAIA Player of the Week, four-time Sun Conference Player of the Week, and the first ever Fire Men’s Tennis player to reach 100 total wins in a career. He went 15-2 in singles, concluding the season as the #6 singles player in the NAIA. In doubles he finished with Piero Fernandez as the #2 doubles team in the NAIA, with a 16-3 record and knocking off the #1 doubles team in the NAIA from #1 Georgia Gwinnett College. He defeated five ranked singles players, including back-to-back wins over top ten singles players. Most impressively, knocking off #2 Shaheed Alam from #3 Keiser University in a three-set thriller that secured the Fire’s first ever win over the Seahawks.
JUNIOR (2024): Menendez tore through the competition in his third year with Southeastern. He finished the season 16-4 in singles line two and 15-7 in doubles flight one with Bruno Pessoa. His singles record was 10+ wins for the third year running. He picked three ranked wins in singles play, all of which were straight sets, including a 6-3, 6-1 win over #14 Zinovii Nahirniak of #6 William Woods. He finished the season ranked #20 in singles. With Pessoa in doubles, they finished ranked fifth after ranking as high as third, picking up two ranked wins, the best of which was a 6-2 win over the #17 DII doubles team from #12 Embry-Riddle. Menendez’s season-long excellence was awarded with ITA NAIA All-America status in singles and doubles, NAIA Second-Team All-American, First-Team All-Sun Conference, and a Sun Conference Player of the Week.
