Men's Tennis took a trip to Macon, Ga. to compete against the #1 team in the NAIA in the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzlies.
Georgia Gwinnett would defend the court taking every match, although some were tightly contested, by the final score of 4-0.
GGC took the doubles point by taking wins at the top two flights by the scores of 6-2 and 6-1.
In singles, the Fire fared much better, even though each of the contests were in favor of the Grizzlies. The first match to finish was between
Bruno Pessoa of Southeastern and #10 Alex Gurmendi. Gurmendi claimed the match 6-0, 7-6. The second match to finish showcased #45
Diego Menendez and #2 Aleksa Ciric with Ciric winning 6-1, 6-1. The third and final complete match was fought by the Fire's
Piero Fernandez and Francisco Sampedro. Again the Georgia Gwinnett member prevailed, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Three matches went unfinished. SEU's
Victor Olivera and the Grizzlies #26 Charly Zick finished with Zick up 7-6, 3-1.
Alejandro Orihuela of Southeastern and #33 Santiago Villarruel finished with Orihuela up 5-4 in the second set after dropping the first set 6-2. Lastly, Southeastern's
Mark Griffin match vs. Mihailo Radosavljevic was called with the second set tied 3-3 after Radosavljevic took the first set 6-4.
Men's tennis returns to the courts tomorrow afternoon to take on #13 Cumberland University (Tenn.) at 1:30 p.m.
