VALDOSTA, Ga.—Southeastern was the runner-up at the Kinderlou Spring Invitational hosted by Dalton State.
The Fire opened with a team score of 318 as most of the field struggled Monday morning but were able to finish with scores of 301 and 302 for a 54-hole total of 921. The host Roadrunners were the champions at 902 (310-297-295).
Madelyn Campbell was the top finisher for SEU in a tie for sixth with a total of 230. Following a 79 in Monday morning's opening round, Campbell came back with a 75 that afternoon and a 76 on Tuesday. Campbell led the tournament in Par 5 scoring at 4.83.
Marlie Smit and
Alejandra Cuellar each posted totals of 232 to tie for ninth. Smit posted a pair of 74s after an opening 84 and Cuellar closed with a 74 after a pair of 79s on Monday. Smit was third in the field in birdies with eight and Cuellar was third in the field in pars with 34.
Lauren Hosier was tied for 16
th, posting the low round on the team in the first round with a 77 and finished with rounds of 81 and 78. She was third in the field in Par 3 scoring at 2.83.
Maria Stephens rounded out the lineup in 18
th with a total of 238, highlighted by the low round on the roster with a one-over 73 in Round 2.
The Fire will travel to West Palm Beach for the Keiser Kup on March 3
rd for their next tournament.
