Peterson and Campbell Lead Fire with Top-20 Finishes

VALDOSTA, Ga. — The No. 9 Southeastern Women's Golf team finished tied for sixth at the Kinderlou Forest Spring Invite, held Monday and Tuesday at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club. The Fire posted a three-round total of 958 (+94) on the par-72, 5,818-yard layout, competing in a strong field that featured multiple nationally ranked programs.

SEU opened the event Monday with rounds of 334 and 301. After a challenging first round, the Fire responded with one of the team's best rounds of the tournament in round two, trimming 33 strokes off their opening score. Southeastern closed with a 323 on Tuesday to secure the tie for sixth alongside Cumberland.

The Fire showed balance throughout the lineup, particularly on par 3s and par 4s. SEU ranked sixth in the field in both par-3 scoring (+20) and par-4 scoring (+77), while finishing seventh in par-5 scoring (+39). Southeastern also recorded one eagle, tied for the most in the tournament, and totaled 140 pars, fourth-most among participating teams.

Individually, Abbey Peterson and Sadaly Campbell paced the Fire, each finishing tied for 17th at 237 (+21). Peterson delivered consistent play across all three rounds with scores of 81, 78, and 78. She finished tied for fifth in par-3 scoring and recorded 31 pars for the week, tied for 12th-most in the field.

Campbell matched Peterson's 237 total with rounds of 81, 78, and 78. She was particularly effective on par 5s, where she finished tied for ninth in scoring, and she added 33 pars, tied for ninth-most in the tournament.

Alejandra Cuellar placed 27th at 245 (+29). Her tournament was highlighted by a second-round 76 (+4) and the team's lone eagle, which put her tied for first in the field in that category. She also collected four birdies across the event.

Emma Tobias finished tied for 31st at 248 (+32). After a first-round 91, she rebounded impressively with an even-par 72 in round two, one of the stronger bounce-back rounds by any player in the field, before closing with an 85.

Ava Bustos rounded out the lineup in 33rd at 250 (+34). She improved each round, culminating in a final-round 79 (+7). Bustos totaled four birdies over the three rounds and showed steady progress as the event went on.

Southeastern will return to action March 2–3 at the Currahee Club Invite in Toccoa Falls, Georgia. The two-day event at Currahee Golf Club will provide another strong test as the Fire continue their spring season.
