JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- No. 9 Southeastern women's golf opened its spring campaign with a strong and steady performance at the 2026 Coastal Georgia Women's Winter Invitational, placing fourth in a competitive 15-team field at Jekyll Island Golf Club. The 36-hole event, played Monday and Tuesday on the par-72, 5,963-yard layout, featured multiple nationally ranked teams and tested lineups with challenging coastal conditions.
The Fire finished at 618 (+42) after rounds of 310 (+22) and 308 (+20), trimming two shots off their total in the second round. Southeastern remained in the top-five mix throughout the tournament and ultimately finished just two strokes shy of third place, underscoring how tight the leaderboard was from top to bottom.
Top-ranked Keiser claimed the team title at 592 (+16), followed by No. 6 SCAD Savannah at 600 (+24) and Eastern Florida State at 611 (+35). Southeastern slotted in ahead of No. 14 Embry-Riddle (AZ) and several other quality programs, marking a solid showing in a deep national-caliber field.
Leading the way was
Sadaly Campbell, who delivered a top-10 finish by tying for seventh at 149 (+5). Campbell opened with a one-over 73 to put herself among the early leaders and followed with a 76 to secure her position. She totaled four birdies and 24 pars over 36 holes, providing Southeastern with a reliable anchor score in both rounds.
Emma Tobias and
Alejandra Cuellar each tied for 27th at 156 (+12). Tobias showed strong resilience, bouncing back from an opening-round 81 with a 75 on Tuesday, one of the team's biggest improvements between rounds and a factor in SEU's lower second-round score. Cuellar supplied consistent play with rounds of 79 and 77 while compiling 21 pars.
Abbey Peterson finished tied for 30th at 157 (+13), recording 23 pars across her rounds of 77 and 80 to remain a steady counting score option. Mariana Espinosa tied for 64th at 172 (+28) to round out the Fire lineup.
Low scores were difficult to come by across the event, with the individual medalist finishing at just +2. SCAD Savannah's Yunyi Luo earned medalist honors after a playoff at 146 (+2), while Embry-Riddle's Bellamaria Mantini also finished at +2 in regulation.
SEU will return to action February 16–17 at the Kinderlou Forest Springs Invite in Valdosta, Georgia, at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, where the Fire will look to build on this momentum and continue sharpening their lineup heading into the heart of the spring season.
