No. 9 Southeastern Places Seventh in Strong Field at Currahee

Campbell finishes 12th to pace Fire in NAIA top-25 field

TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. — No. 9 Southeastern placed seventh at the Currahee Club Invitational, finishing with a three-round total of 970 (+106) at Currahee Golf Club. The event was hosted by Indiana Wesleyan and featured five teams ranked inside the NAIA Top 25.

The Fire opened the tournament Monday with rounds of 327 (+39) and 322 (+34) before closing Tuesday with a 321 (+33). Southeastern's second-round 322 stood as its best round of the event as the Fire finished just two strokes behind No. 18 Lindsey Wilson for sixth place.

No. 6 SCAD Savannah captured the team title at 912 (+48), finishing 11 strokes ahead of No. 3 Dalton State. No. 20 Cumberland placed third at 940 (+76), followed by No. 11 Cumberlands in fourth at 957 (+93). Host No. 7 Indiana Wesleyan's "A" team rounded out the top five at 963 (+99).

Sadaly Campbell led Southeastern individually, finishing 12th overall with a 235 (+19). Campbell posted rounds of 78, 77, and 80 during the tournament, with her second-round 77 serving as the Fire's lowest round of the week.

Emma Tobias produced Southeastern's strongest finish on the final day, carding a 77 in the third round to move up the leaderboard and finish 28th at 244 (+28). Tobias improved each day after opening with an 86 in round one.

Abbey Peterson finished just one stroke behind Tobias in 29th place at 245 (+29). Peterson opened the tournament with a 79 before shooting 83 in each of the final two rounds.

Alejandra Cuellar tied for 34th with a total of 250 (+34), highlighted by matching rounds of 81 in both the second and third rounds after an opening-round 88.

Mariana Espinosa rounded out the Fire lineup, tying for 38th at 253 (+37) with rounds of 84, 85, and 84.

Southeastern competed in a tightly packed middle of the leaderboard throughout the tournament. Just seven strokes separated the Fire from fifth-place Indiana Wesleyan, while only two strokes separated Southeastern from Lindsey Wilson directly ahead.
