Women’s Tennis Upsets No. 7 Crusaders

Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.—The Fire picked up their second Top 10 win of the season with a 4-0 victory over seventh-ranked William Carey on Saturday to improve to 4-2 on the season.
 
Southeastern has won its last four matches after starting the season 0-2.
 
Neleah Neiberline and Irene Lopez evened up the doubles play with a 6-2 win at No. 3 after Carey won the second flight 6-1. Martina Picardi and Simone Simas gave the Fire the 1-0 lead heading to singles with a 6-3 win at the top spot.
 
In singles, Lopez was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at Line 6 and Simas followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5. Beatrice Letizia ended the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at Line 3.
 
Picardi was up a set at Line 1 and Micah Sypert had forced a third at Line 2 as did Neiberline at Line 3.
 
The Fire will take on the defending national champions in Georgia Gwinnett Sunday afternoon.
