Women's Tennis Advances to Sun Conference Tournament Championship

No. 4 SEU cruised to the Sun Tournament Final with a 4-0 shutout of the host

BRUNSWICK, Ga. -- No. 4 Fire Women's Tennis will make its third straight appearance in the Sun Conference Tournament Championship match following a 4-0 win over fourth-seeded No. 19 College of Coastal Georgia in the semifinals on Friday morning.

Doubles started with Irene Parigi and Isabella Bolivar Garces securing with a 6-2 victory over Gabriela Miteva and Luna Feillon on flight two. Soon after, Martina Picardi and Alessia Ciampi claimed the doubles point for Southeastern with a 6-4 win over Gabriella Rodrigues and Karlie Scott Kersey on the top flight.

Flight three was left unfinished with Leonie Schondelmaier and Aurora Compagnucci trailing Freya Zayyan and Manon Baudet 5-3.

It didn't take long after for the Fire to punch their ticket to the finals, with No. 48 Schondelmaier earning a quick 6-0, 6-2 over Rodrigues on court four. No. 34 Parigi followed with a result of the same on the fifth court, defeating Felicia Elixmann.

Backs against the wall, Coastal Georgia needed courts to stay alive. They were denied by the Fire and No. 57 Ciampi who downed Feillon on court three in dominating 6-2, 6-1 fashion. Clinching the match, and a return trip to the finals.

Three matches went unfinished, with No. 51 Kersey leading No. 53 Bolivar Garces 6-3, 6-5 on court one, No. 25 Picardi was working on a third set with Miteva on court two, splitting the first two 6-3, 3-6, and the freshman Compagnucci held a commanding 6-2, 4-0 lead on court six.

Now 14-4, the top-seeded Fire are set to face a hungry No. 1 Keiser on Friday at 10 a.m. for the Sun Conference Tournament title.
