Women’s Golf Hangs on to Win SEU Fall Invitational

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern successfully defended its home course, building a lead that was too much for the field to overcome after 36 holes to pull off a one-shot victory.

It marked the second consecutive win of the season.

The Fire posted a team score of 294 during Monday's first round, followed by a program record of even-par 288 and a 306 during Tuesday's final round.

There were more records broken by the Fire beyond the second round team score.

Individually, Maria Stephens shot 68 during the first round for a new program-record 18-hole score. Stephens finished third with a total of 219 (68-74-77).

The record didn't stand long as Marlie Smit just hours later posted a 67 in the second round. She was the runner-up with a total of 218 (75-67-76).

Madelyn Campbell tied for fourth with a total of 223 (72-75-76) and Alejandra Cuellar was tied for 15th with a 236 (79-80-77). Lauren Hosier was 19th at 240 (84-72-84).
