HATTIESBURG, Miss.—Southeastern got off to a sluggish start at the Carey Collegiate held at Canebrake Country Club, finishing tied for sixth in the 13-team field.
An opening team score of 314 was too big of a hole to dig out of even after posting a 12-over 300 as a team in the second round and finished with a 308 for a total of 922. Dalton State won the event with a score of 894.
Marlie Smit was the top finisher in a tie for 16
th, posting a total of 228 with rounds of 76, 75, and 77 at the 5,924-yard, Par 72 course.
Madelyn Campbell was a shot back in a tie for 18
th with rounds of 81, 75, and 73.
Alejandra Cuellar posted a total of 230, highlighted by a one-over 73 in the second round.
Maria Stephens tied for 41
st with a total of 239 and
Lauren Hosier was tied for 52
nd at 246.
The Fire will next participate in the Gyrene Invite on October 16
th at Ave Maria.
