EDMOND, Okla.—Southeastern posted its best finish in program history at the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at Rose Creek Golf Course this week.
The Fire were third, posting the low team score of the day at 295 in the final round after a 307 in the third. Play was suspended with 2-3 holes remaining for the Fire golfers in the third round at 1:40 p.m. Central Time on Thursday and resumed Friday morning.
Both
Ana Uribe and
Danielle Owens tied for sixth and set a new 72-hole program record score of 294 and earned All-Tournament Team recognition. Uribe posted a 1-under 71 in the final round, moving up six spots in the last 18 holes.
Despite a pair of doubles on the card, Owens finished even for the day with five birdies. For the week, Owens had 14 birdies which was tied for second most in the field this week and spent some time at the top of the leaderboard at a couple different points during the week.
Valentina Espinosa had the low round on the SEU roster in the fourth round with a 71, bouncing back from an 83 in the third to finish in a tie for 49
th. Kate Kenthack completed her first national championship with a 72-hole score of 316, closing the third round with a 77 and the fourth with an 81 to tie for 72nd.
Ashlynn Joyner finished with a 76 in the third and an 85 in the fourth for a total of 324 to place 86
th.
