LAKELAND, Fla.—After an impressive 2-0 road victory against Johnson & Wales in their last match, Southeastern (2-4-1, 1-1-1 TSC) will travel to Hardeeville, S.C. to meet with SCAD on Wednesday night.
The Fire will look to carry momentum into the heart of the conference schedule after picking up their first Sun Conference win of the year on Saturday. Southeastern, who ended the Wildcats' five game win streak, is led by
Tauan Salgado on the offensive side of the ball. In the attacking third, Salgado has finished three of his five shots on goal this season, one of which was a game winner.
Gustavo Rodriguez and
Jonathan Jimenez also contribute offensively, as each has tallied a goal and four helpers on the scoresheet in Southeastern's seven contests. This puts both players in a tie for the Sun Conference lead in assists.
Defensively,
Jorge Navarrete will be in goal for the Fire. The junior keeper has registered 24 saves, including two stops in a massive 2-0 shutout victory in Miami on Saturday.
SCAD comes into their faceoff against the Fire with a 4-3-0 (1-0-0 TSC) record. The Bees are captained up front by freshman Cian Lynch, who has impressed with eight goals in seven competitions this season. The Dublin, Ireland native is coming off of his second hat trick of the year, which he scored in the Bees' only conference game thus far, a 4-1 win at Florida Memorial.
Joe Parker will likely handle the goalkeeping responsibilities for the Bees. Parker, who has given up seven goals this season, has blocked 18 shots on the year for an average of 3.6 saves per game.
Although the teams' records can be deceiving, the contest should be a close one. Five out of the past six times the teams have met, the match has been decided by one goal. Recently, Southeastern has gotten the better of SCAD, by beating the Bees each of the past two seasons. The most recent encounter came last year in a competition that the Fire took by a score of 2-1.
Kickoff at the SCAD Athletics Complex is scheduled for 6 p.m.
