LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — SEU battled No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett to a 1-1 draw Monday afternoon at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.

The Fire (1-1-1) grabbed the early advantage in the 27th minute when Pablo Lobon found the back of the net off an assist from Koren Klein. The goal marked Lobon's second of the season and gave Southeastern a 1-0 lead. 

Southeastern carried the lead into halftime despite Georgia Gwinnett generating eight shots in the opening 45 minutes. Noah Murray-Hawkins came up with three saves in the first half, including an incredible double save with 30 seconds left in the half, to keep the Grizzlies off the scoreboard.

Georgia Gwinnett eventually leveled the match in the 58th minute when Pedro Nunes scored off assists from Ousmane Fall and Francisco Osorio.

The Fire responded with pressure of their own, creating several opportunities in the second half. Southeastern earned four corner kicks after halftime and put three second-half shots on target, but Georgia Gwinnett goalkeeper Victor Darub turned each one away.

Murray-Hawkins continued his strong performance in goal, making two additional saves in the second half to finish with five saves on the afternoon.

Southeastern finished with eight shots, five of which were on target, while Georgia Gwinnett recorded 17 shots and six shots on goal. The Fire also held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

The draw moves Southeastern to 1-1-1 on the season, while No. 5 Georgia Gwinnett moves to 2-0-1.
