TAMPA, Fla. – In their final regular-season event, Southeastern University men's golf closed out the Florida College Invitational with a pair of top-10 individual performances. Adam Crawley and Zach Shaw led the way, finishing sixth and eighth respectively, as the Fire placed fourth in the eight-team field.
Crawley and Shaw were separated by just one stroke, both turning in consistent sub-80 rounds throughout the tournament. Crawley posted scores of 75, 77, and 79 for a three-round total of 231 (+15). Shaw matched Crawley's opening and final round scores (75, 79) with a second-round 78, finishing at 232 (+16).
As a team, SEU recorded rounds of 319, 313, and 331 for a tournament total of 963 strokes (+99). The Fire's strongest performance came in Monday's second round, led by Crawley's 77 and a team-low 75 from Marley Read.
Read finished just outside the top 10, tying for 11th at 235 (+19). He carded an 80 on both the first and final days, paired with his standout 75 in Round 2.
Spencer McCranie was the Fire's fourth scorer, finishing in a tie for 19th with a total of 245 (+29). The sophomore opened with an 80, followed by rounds of 81 and 84.
Nicholas Farraone rounded out SEU's lineup with his best round of 79 coming on Monday. He posted scores of 86 and 88 on the first and final days to finish in a tie for 29th at 253 (+37).
St. Thomas University claimed the team title with a 930 (+66), edging out Ave Maria by seven strokes. Individually, Anthony Amoroso III of St. Thomas earned medalist honors with a dominant six-stroke victory at 221 (+5).
Southeastern now turns its attention to the postseason. The Fire will compete in the Sun Conference Tournament from April 26–29 at Jekyll Island, Ga.
