Strong Finish Lifts Fire to Third

SEU places two in top 10

LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Southeastern closed out the 2026 Sun Conference Championship with a strong overall showing, finishing third at Fountains Country Club after posting a three-round total of 883 (+31).

The Fire improved one spot on the final day, overtaking Coastal Georgia to secure a podium finish behind champion Keiser (E) and runner-up Webber International (+24). Southeastern remained steady throughout the event, carding rounds of 294, 292, and 297.

Consistency proved to be a defining factor for SEU. The Fire ranked third across all scoring categories—Par 3 (3.30), Par 4 (4.21), and Par 5 (5.02)—while finishing second in total pars (169). Southeastern also led the field in limiting mistakes, recording the fewest double bogeys or worse (9).

Individually, Southeastern placed two golfers inside the top 10. Zach Shaw and Scott Starbuck each finished tied for seventh at 221 (+8). Shaw climbed four spots on the final day, while Starbuck made one of the biggest moves in the field, jumping 16 positions after an even-par 71 in the final round.

Gray Ottman and Connor Williams each tied for 11th at 222 (+9). Williams recorded eight birdies over the tournament, ranking tied for eighth in the field, while Ottman finished tied for seventh in par-3 scoring (3.17).

Marley Read rounded out the lineup with a 29th-place finish at 233 (+20), also ranking tied for seventh in par-3 scoring.

Keiser's Iver Sokhan-Sanj claimed medalist honors at 207 (-6), with teammates Yann Ferrando and Webber International's Christopher Richards Jr. tying for second at 208 (-5).

Southeastern now turns its attention to the postseason, awaiting its fate for an at-large bid to the NAIA National Championship. The national tournament is scheduled for May 12–15 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
