LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Southeastern men's golf improved by two shots in Monday's second round of the Sun Conference Championship, posting a 292 to remain fourth overall at 18-over 586 heading into the final round at Fountains Country Club.
Southeastern holds its position behind tournament leader Keiser (-11, 557), while Coastal Georgia and Webber International are tied for second at +10. The Fire are within reach of the podium but will need a strong final round to close the gap.
As a team, Southeastern continued to rely on consistency, ranking second in the field in pars (117) through 36 holes while sitting third in par-5 scoring (4.97) and tied for third in par-4 scoring (4.21).
Gray Ottman delivered one of the day's most impactful rounds, shooting a 1-over 72 to climb seven spots into a tie for 11th at 4-over 146. Ottman's round featured a steady start before gaining momentum late with back-to-back birdies on holes 14 and 15. He currently ranks tied for second in par-3 scoring (even) and tied for third in total pars (26).
Zach Shaw sits alongside Ottman in a tie for 11th at 146 after a second-round 75. Shaw opened with a birdie on the third and added another on 18 but was slowed by a stretch of bogeys on the back nine, including a double bogey on 14.
Connor Williams posted a 3-over 74 and moved up to 14th overall at 147 (+5). His round included birdies on holes 3 and 11, helping offset four bogeys across the card.
Scott Starbuck recorded an even-par 71, the Fire's low round of the day, and made one of the biggest moves in the field—jumping 10 spots into 23rd. Starbuck carded three birdies (holes 3, 5, and 12) and limited mistakes on the back nine to stabilize his position.
Marley Read finished with a 78 and sits 31st overall at 12-over 154.
Individually, Yann Ferrando of Keiser leads the tournament at 7-under 135, followed by Christopher Richards Jr. of Webber International at 5-under 137 and Iver Sokhan-Sanj of Keiser at 4-under 138.
The final round will be played Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m., as Southeastern looks to make a move up the leaderboard and contend for a top-three finish.
