HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Southeastern men's golf closed play at the Carey Collegiate presented by Walk-On's with a seventh-place finish at Canebrake Country Club, posting a three-round total of 871 (+19) against a field that included several nationally ranked programs.
The Fire opened the event with rounds of 290 and 291 on Monday before matching their first-round score with a 290 in Tuesday's final round. Southeastern finished ahead of ABAC, No. 18 Tennessee Wesleyan, Grand View, and Faulkner in the 15-team field.
Statistically, the Fire ranked fifth in the tournament in par-4 scoring at 4.13 and fifth overall with 170 pars while recording 39 birdies across the three rounds.
Zach Shaw paced Southeastern with a three-round score of 217 (+4), highlighted by a final-round 70 (-1) that moved him up seven spots on the leaderboard to finish 27th.
Connor Williams also closed strong, firing a 70 (-1) in the final round to jump 12 places and tie for 30th at 218 (+5).
Gray Ottman matched Williams at 218 (+5) to also finish tied for 30th after opening with rounds of 74 and 70 before carding a 74 in the final round.
Marley Read placed 34th overall at 219 (+6), highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth hole during the second round.
Scott Starbuck rounded out the Fire lineup with a 225 (+12), finishing 49th.
Southeastern will return to action April 13–14 at the Music City Classic, hosted at Hermitage Golf Course in Old Hickory, Tennessee.
