Fire Men's Tennis made short work of Judson University Wednesday afternoon, winning 7-0, and going 4-0 in the trip to Orlando and Altamonte Springs. With the win the Fire extend their win streak to six and move to 8-3 on the season and Judson drops to 3-3.
Doubles started in dominant fashion, as the Fire only gave up one point in all three matches. The first flight to finish was flight three, where Southeastern's
Piero Fernandez and
Mark Griffin took a 6-0 victory over Niel Hentrich and Jerez Rinehart. Flight one was the next to conclude when
Bruno Pessoa and
Diego Menendez controlled their contest over Nicolas Donoso and Cesar Villafan 6-0. To finish doubles the Fire's
Alejandro Orihuela and
Victor Olivera defeated their opponents Julius Fortun and Joshua Bavich 6-1 thus securing an early 1-0 lead for the Fire.
Singles was much of the same story as doubles, with only one Judson player scoring more than two points in a game.
Federico Boscolo of line six spent no time conquering his rival, as he finished off Hentrich 6-1, 6-0. #45 Menendez was next with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bavich in the second line. Closely following suit, Griffin won a 6-2, 6-0 contest against Villafan in the fifth line.
Orihuela completed a very successful personal road trip, as he won every match that he competed in that was finished, this time he dominated Donoso 6-1, 6-0 in the third line. Fernandez and Fortun finished their game shortly after with Fernandez earning himself a 6-2, 6-0 triumph. The last match to finish was line one where #28
Bruno Pessoa concluded the road trip for the Fire with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Alexandre Veltkamp.
The Fire return home to Lakeland tomorrow for the fifth match of six in a very busy spring break slate as they take on Cornerstone University (Mich.) (6-5) in Southeastern's first true home match of the season, first serve is at 1 p.m.
