Box Score OVERLAND PARK, Kan.—Southeastern matched its ranking with a third-place finish at the ITA Indoor Championship by knocking off No. 4 Tennessee Wesleyan 4-2 Sunday night.
The doubles point went to the Fire tanks to a 6-2 win by
Flaminia Guidantoni and
Ingrid Montserrat at Line 2 and a 6-4 win by
Simone Simas and
Martina Picardi at Line 1.
The Bulldogs took the lead with wins at Lines 2 and 5 in singles play but Picardi evened the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the top flight and Simas was a 6-3, 6-3 winner at Line 4.
Giudantoni took the first set of her third flight singles match 6-4 but had to battle through the second and ended up in a tiebreaker where she was an 8-6 winner to clinch the match.
The Fire will host No. 7 LSU Alexandria for their home opener on Friday at the Beerman Tennis Courts.
