LEESBURG, Fla.—Southeastern had its first boat qualify for Major League Fishing's Abu Garcia College Fishing National Championship over the weekend during competition at the Harris Chain of Lakes.
Freshmen
Brant Langley and
Cody Morgan placed 22
nd in the derby, weighing in a five-fish bag at 13 pounds, four ounces.
"It wasn't the tournament we thought we might have but it's not a great time in Florida (for fishing) right now," said Langley during weigh-ins. "It's always good to be around our friends and family and we appreciate the support."
Trey Garrett and
Andrew Ready were a half of a pound away from earning a trip to the championship placing 33
rd with a five-fish limit of 12 pounds.
Connor Koch and Kane Weekley finished 58
th with five fish weighing in at 10 pounds, three ounces.
Colton Boelkes went solo and weighed in a five-fish bag at seven pounds, six ounces.
The Fire will compete in the Bassmaster College Series for the first time on February 1
st when they travel to Clarks Hill Reservoir.
