Women’s Tennis Records Historic Victory

Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.—The third Top 10 win of the season for Southeastern's women's tennis team was a monumental one.
 
The Fire knocked off No. 8 SCAD Savannah for the first time in 19 tries with a 4-3 win over the Bees Saturday afternoon.
 
In the previous 18 contests between the two teams, Southeastern had won just 10 total matches.
 
All four points came in singles play after the Bees took two-of-three in doubles play for a 1-0 lead. Micah Sypert won her 10th match of the year with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-2 win at Line 3. Simone Simas was a 6-3, 7-5 winner at Line 4 and Neleah Neiberline was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at Line 5. Irene Lopez was responsible for the fourth point with her ninth win of the year with a 6-4, 6-2 win at Line 6.
 
Lopez and Neiberline were the lone victorious doubles pair, earning their ninth win of the season together with a 6-3 win at Flight 3.
 
The Fire will honor their seniors next Friday at noon.
