Box Score ORLANDO, Fla.- Southeastern men's tennis (8-2) dropped just their second contest of the season today with a 4-3 loss to No. 20 ranked Cardinal Stritch University.
Christian Garay and
Diego Menendez took the first match of the day with a 6-3 win at line one. The Fire would then drop the next two doubles matches by scores of 7-6 and 6-3 to enter singles play trailing a point.
At line two singles,
Victor Olivera dropped his match by scores of 6-4 and 6-1 to give the Wolves a two-point lead but a win by
Federico Barbon at line four by two set scores of 6-2 brought the Fire within one.
Menendez then tied the contest at two with a win at line three, 6-1 and 6-4.
With the score tied, Garay picked up his second win of the day with 6-2 and 6-4 wins at line one to put the Fire ahead 3-2.
The Wolves again tied the contest after Christian Della Cioppa dropped his match at line five by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
The match would be decided by an extra-set thriller at line five as
Enrique Martinez took set one by a score of 6-1 but dropped the second set 7-6 to force a third. A 6-2 set three victory by the Wolves would secure them the match win over the No. 5 ranked Fire.
Southeastern will next head to Mobile, Ala. for the weekend to take on Dillard University on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Xavier University on Sunday at 10 a.m.
