Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.- The No. 9 ranked Fire men's tennis team (8-1) secured their third NAIA Top 25 victory tonight after defeating No. 10 ranked William Woods by a score of 4-3.
The Fire were forced to work from behind after losing the doubles point with
Christian Garay and
Diego Menendez dropping their doubles match 6-3 at line one and
Victor Olivera and
Federico Barbon dropping their match 6-4 at line two.
Guido Luna and
Enrique Martinez came out on top of their line three doubles match by a score of 6-2.
In singles play, Garay took a match victory at line one with scores of 6-0 and 6-1 to tie the contest while Menendez gave the Fire the lead with a line three win in three sets after taking set one 6-4, dropping set two 7-6 and the tiebreaker 7-5, and securing set three 6-2.
Barbon also came away with a singles win at line four by set scores of 6-4 and 6-1 while Martinez secured the Fire's 4-3 victory at line six with 6-3 and 6-0 scores.
Southeastern will next compete at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. on Thursday against No. 20 ranked Cardinal Stritch at 2:30 p.m.
