Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.—In its second match of the day, Southeastern grinded out a 4-3 win over No. 7 William Carey to remain unbeaten.
This is the second Top 10 team the Fire have defeated, taking down No. 6 Middle Georgia State last week.
For the first time this year, Southeastern dropped the doubles point losing No. 2 and No. 3 matches and were trailing 6-5 at No. 1.
Things turned around in singles play with
Christian Garay cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win at Line 1. Carey took a 2-1 lead with a straight sets win at Line 2, but the Fire answered back with
Guido Luna at No. 5 with a three-set win.
The Crusaders regained the lead with a three-set win at Line 6, which was answered by
Federico Barbon with a three-set win at No. 4 taking the third set 6-1 after winning the second 7-5.
Just after 10:30 local time,
Diego Menendez scored a 6-1, 6-7 (7-1), 6-3 win to give the Fire the win.
Southeastern will now take on defending national champion Georgia Gwinnett Sunday afternoon.
