Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla.- Southeastern men's tennis (13-3, 3-1 SUN) came out on top of another NAIA Top 15 and Sun Conference matchup today after downing No. 13 ranked Ave Maria University by a score of 4-3.
Christian Garay and
Diego Menendez moved their doubles record to 11-5 on the season with a 6-3 win at line one while
Victor Olivera and
Federico Barbon secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win at line two.
Garay also grabbed his 13
th singles win of the season at line one, downing his opponent in three sets after dropping the first 7-5 and taking the next two 6-3 and 6-2.
Menendez then dropped his first match of the season (11-1) at line two by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
A win at line three by the Gyrenes tied the contest at two as Barbon then advanced his win streak to 10 with 6-3 and 6-2 scores at line four.
Guido Luna fell just short of a three-set battle after dropping the first set 6-4, taking the second 6-3, and dropping the tiebreaker 10-8, concluding the 4-3 match.
The No. 6 ranked Fire will next take on Rollins College on the road on Friday.
