WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.—The Fire wrestling team dropped both of its duals during competition at the University of the Cumberlands.
Against the hosts in a Mid-South Conference contest, the Fire fell 26-18.
Zach Colgan scored a major decision with a 10-0 win at 174 to put SEU up 18-11, but the Fire were unable to come up with points at the top three weight classes, dropping a major decision, a fall, and a tech fall.
Timmy Dinsdale (165) and
Caleb Rudisill (141) also had major decision wins, and Gio Bonilla came away with a thrilling 7-5 decision over Tristan Macri. Macri came into the match ranked eighth in the nation at 157.
In SEU's second meeting of the year against Newberry, the Fire lost 31-9 with
Adrian Hughes (149), Colgan, and
Zech Rives (184) collecting decisions.
The Fire will host their first meet of the year next Saturday against Allen (S.C.) and USF.
