PARK CITY, Kan. — Southeastern closed the 2026 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships with four All-Americans and a sixth-place team finish Saturday night at Heartland Credit Union Arena.
The Fire totaled 79.5 team points, finishing behind team champion Grand View (192.5), Life (166), Oklahoma City (99.5), Embry-Riddle (85.5), and Doane (80.5).
Leading the way for Southeastern was
Aaron Lucio at 133 pounds, who advanced to the national championship match before finishing as the national runner-up. Lucio entered the finals as the tournament's top seed but fell by pin to Grand View's Gabe Gonzales in the title bout to cap an impressive run through the bracket.
At 149 pounds,
Mario De La Torre secured All-American honors after reaching the consolation semifinals with a medical forfeit victory over Arizona Christian's Carlos Stanton. De La Torre advanced to the third-place match but dropped a 12–0 major decision to Oklahoma City's Kaden Fetterolf, finishing the tournament in fourth place.
The Fire placed two wrestlers on the podium at 165 pounds, highlighted by
Anthony Federico, who delivered one of Southeastern's strongest finishes of the weekend. Federico defeated teammate
Jovon Mitchell in the consolation semifinals, 4–3, before edging Life's Alexander Couto in a 2–1 tiebreaker to claim third place.
Mitchell moved to the fifth-place match following the semifinal loss but fell to Life's Rocky Raby by an 8–5 decision, finishing the national tournament in sixth place.
The four podium finishes gave Southeastern another strong showing on the national stage, as Lucio (2nd), Federico (3rd), De La Torre (4th), and Mitchell (6th) each earned NAIA All-American honors while helping the Fire secure a top-six team finish at the national championships.
