LAKELAND, Fla. Southeastern University men's wrestling has officially unveiled its schedule for the 2026-27 season, presenting a competitive slate packed with marquee events and elite national challenges.
SEU returns a strong veteran core anchored by a pair of NAIA All-Americans. Aaron Lucio returns at 133 pounds after a standout campaign that saw him advance to the national championship match. The Fire also return heavy-hitting experience in the upper weights with 197-pounder Gentry Smith, who secured All-American status with a sixth-place national finish in 2025.
The highlight of the away schedule is the "Throwdown on the Yorktown" where the squad will compete against No. 2 Life and West Liberty on November 7. The unique duals will take place aboard the USS Yorktown, a historic Essex-class aircraft carrier that earned the nickname "Fighting Lady" for its distinguished service in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
"The addition of the duals on the USS Yorktown will be a cool opportunity for our team and a great challenge against two top NAIA and NCAA D2 opponents," said head coach Travis Patrick. "Additionally, our move to the SSAC gives our dual schedule a different look this season. I am looking forward to testing our team this season and chasing some big goals with our guys."
The home schedule features premier national duals against No. 5 Oklahoma City on December 5 and No. 19 Keiser on December 19 inside The Fire Pit. The Fire will honor its seniors on January 30 before an SSAC dual against Brewton-Parker. The postseason begins with the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships on February 29 in Montgomery, Ala., before concluding at the NAIA National Championships in Wichita, Kan., March 4–6.
