LAKELAND, Fla. - The brand new Fire Pit hosted its first successful dual this past Saturday where the Fire prevailed victorious in handling fashion. Southeastern wrestled both Allen University and the University of South Florida and shutout their opponents with 56-0 and 59-0 wins respectively. This week, the Fire are tasked with their fourth Mid-South Conference bout against Truett-McConnell College to take place on Thursday, December, 15th inside the Fire Pit.

The Formidable Fire: The Fire currently have five nationally ranked wrestlers in their stacked lineup. In the last dual the Fire went an undefeated 20-0 and tallied five pins in the bouts against Allen. Tim Dinsdale, ranked 5th at 165 lb in the NAIA, recorded his seventh win on the season with an impressive 49 second pin against Allen University's Josh Allen.
Adrian Hughes the 12th ranked 149 lb wrestler, contributed to the Fire's win over Allen University with a pin late in the match against at the 4:06 mark. Arguably the biggest win of the young freshman's career came earlier in the season when he placed first at the Shorter Open with a win over Life University's Denver Stonecheck.
The Fire are also home to the 15th ranked 125 lb wrestler in all of the NAIA Olson Delisca. The sophomore, who made a NAIA National Tournament appearance last year, recorded his ninth win of the season this past Saturday after a 52 second pin.
Golden Bears: The Golden Bears are led by coach Marcus Cobbs who is currently in his second season heading the grapplers. Two notable standouts for the Golden Bears are Devonte Upshaw and David Capers.
Upshaw (133), the Athens, Georgia native has posted a 4-1 record this season with his most recent win coming in the bout against St. Andrews University where the Golden Bears suffered a devastating one point loss.
Posting a 4-2 record this season, Capers (184) the senior prepped at Thompson High School, is one of two men who have personal records over .500 this season. His last victory came by fall in 2:33 against St. Andrews University.
The Previous Meeting: In the Fire's inaugural season, the team traveled to Marietta, Georgia where they recorded a 39-19 win over the Golden Bears and aim to repeat last year's results in 2016.
