Box Score WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—In the final game of the regular season, the Fire volleyball team lost a five-set match to Keiser, closing the year with a 16-9 record and 7-5 league mark.
The Fire won the first two sets each 25-17, hitting an impressive .542 with 14 kills in the second set. The Seahawks (21-10, 6-5 TSC) struggled in the first set with nine kills and 10 errors on the attack, but picked it up in the second with 14 kills and a .310 attack percentage.
Keiser flipped things around in the third set, coming away with a narrow 25-23 win, then forced the fifth set with a 25-22 win in the fourth set, hitting .375 as a team.
The hosts bolted to a 7-2 lead in the final set, with four of those points on Fire attack errors. Southeastern battled back to tie the set at 12, and answered each time the Seahawks scored. With the set tied at 14, Keiser picked up the final two points on a kill by Nikki McKown and an SEU attack error.
Victoria Trueheart was one of three players in double digits in kills for the Fire, with a game-high 19.
Kelsey Morton added 18 with a .485 attacking percentage, and
Lydia Rooth recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Lindsey Fleming also had a double-double with a game-high 50 assists and 11 digs.
Alyssa Prescott had a team-best 15 digs.
The Fire will face either Warner or St. Thomas next Friday in the semifinals of The Sun Conference Tournament, hosted by the regular season champion.
