Box Score LAKELAND, Fla.—A three-game win streak came to a close against St. Thomas Monday evening, with the second-place Bobcats coming away with a straight-sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) win over the Fire.
Southeastern (12-6, 4-3 TSC) struggled with its attack, committing 17 attack errors, and finishing with a .078 attack percentage.
The Fire led the first set 15-10, but the Bobcats came back to take a 22-19 lead largely due to the play of Whitney Battoe, who had four kills at the end of the set to help claim a 25-22 win. Battoe finished with a match-best 16 kills.
St. Thomas kept the Fire at arms-length during the second set, leading by as much as nine, and winning by that margin, closing out the set on a 5-1 run. The Fire had just four kills and five attack errors during the second set. The Bobcats (19-4, 6-1 TSC) recorded a .324 attack percentage in the same set.
The Bobcats used an 11-1 run to control the third set 20-10, but the Fire refused to go quietly, cutting the deficit in half, and forcing a pair of St. Thomas timeouts before the guests came away with a 25-19 win.
Sophomore
Kelsey Morton had a team-high eight kills, and a .227 attack percentage. Junior
Lindsey Fleming was the squad's top distributor with 15 assists, and
Alyssa Prescott led the back from with nine digs.
The Fire return to action tomorrow at home against Florida College at 7 p.m.
