Box Score LAKE WALES, Fla.—A total of 26 attacking, three ball handling, and three service errors led to the Fire volleyball team dropping a 3-0 road Sun Conference match on Thursday night.
In the first set, the Fire totaled just nine kills and had eight errors attacking, dropping the set 25-18. A 7-3 run in the second set helped Warner take a 17-11 lead, and then used a 5-2 run to close out the set with a 25-18 win. The Fire had eight kills and eight errors in the second.
Warner had its own problems with errors in the third set, giving the Fire the first four points of the set, all on attack errors, before recording a block to get on the board. Four straight points by the Royals gave them their first lead of the set at 13-12.
Trailing 20-17, the Fire mounted a 5-0 run to take a 22-20 lead. The Fire had set point twice, but the Royals rallied back to win the set 27-25.
As a team, the Fire finished with a -.008 attacking percentage.
Victoria Trueheart was the team leader in kills with eight.
Lindsey Fleming assisted on 21 of SEU's 25 kills. Uche Kojo finished with a solo block and assisted on four others.
Ashley Lanoue also had four block assists.
Jordan Wheeler had a team-best 16 digs.
The Fire are back in action on October 13
th when they travel to Trinity College.
