ORLANDO, Fla. – After returning to the court for the first time in 10 days, the Fire didn't miss a beat on Tuesday afternoon. Southeastern University had no problem with Davenport University in a 7-0 win in men's tennis this afternoon.
The Fire outscored the Panthers, 18-7, starting the match by sweeping the doubles point and never gave up a set in the six singles match-ups.
Each part of the SEU top two doubles teams won twice over their Davenport. Piero Fernandez and Diego Menendez teamed up for a 6-2 win over the pairing of Jaden Bender/Carlos Henriquez. Javier Gallego and Gonzalo Fernandez equaled the feat at second doubles, 6-2, over Simone Pacciolla/Reuben Baker.
Both Piero Fernandez and Gonzalo Fernandez gave up only three games in their singles contests. Piero bested Pacciolla in quick fashion (6-1, 6-2), while Gonzalo took the sixth singles by 6-3 and a 6-0 shutout of Rudiger Dusselberg.
At second singles, Menendez kept the Fire rolling (6-4, 6-3) over Daniel Calver, while Gallego took care of Baker in 17 games (6-2, 6-3).
