Men’s Golf Rallies for Upset at Conference Championship

LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern overcame a seven-shot deficit and edged NAIA No. 2 Keiser by one stroke to claim its first Sun Conference Men's Golf Championship since 2013.
 
During Tuesday's final round, the Fire posted a six-under par team score of 282 with the worst counting score of the day an even-par 72.
 
Nicholas Faraone took medalist honors by posting a bogey, three-under 69 in Tuesday's final round to win the title by two shots over Sun Conference Player of the Year Isac Wallin. His 40 pars in 54 holes led the field.
 
Nick Zarillo jumped into a tie for third after a one-under 71 in the final round highlighted by three birdies on the front nine. Zarillo led the field in Par 5 scoring at -7 and was second in Par 3 scoring at +1. Matthew Soucinek placed eighth with a two-under 70 in the final round with three birdies on the front.
 
Zachary Shaw finished 15th with a total of 224, closing with a 75 and Marley Read was 18th with a total of 225 after a 72 on Tuesday. Shaw and Read both had two eagles during the week.
 
The Fire have clinched a bid to the NAIA National Championship May 21-24th at Dalton Golf and Country Club in Georgia.
