DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—Southeastern had a solid showing in its fourth outdoor meet of the season, posting multiple NAIA qualifying standards during the weekend at the Running Elements Classic at Embry-Riddle.
On the men's side,
James Williamson III posted the second-best time in the 100 Meters in the NAIA with a 10.39 on Saturday to win the event. He also led off the 4x100 Relay team with
Joseph Taylor,
Cameron Alamia, and
Davien Worrels which posted a victorious time of 40.65 which is tied for fourth nationally.
Worrels also posted a 'B' Standard of 10.48 in the 100 Meters and was second behind Williamson. Taylor also hit the 'B' Standard in the event and was third at 10.53.
In the 5,000 Meter Race Walk,
TJ Sanders was the top finisher in a 'B' Standard time of 26:14.
Cameron Guadiano was second in the prelims of the 110 Meter Hurdles in 14.57.
John Perez-Dunn won the 3000 Steeplechase in a time of 9:33 and
Luke Callery was third in 10:24.
On the women's side, the 4x800 Relay team of
Jillian Blaser,
Natalie Rohm,
Brianna Sheppard, and Aofie Mahony won the event and did so in an 'A' Standard time of 9:23.34 which is currently third nationally. Mahony posted a 2:17 split to help the squad clinch a spot at NAIA Nationals.
Ashlyn Poulin was the winner of the Race Walk in an NAIA 'A' Standard time of 26:08.
Irmiris Mendez was third in the 400 Meters, registering a third-place NAIA 'B' Standard time of 57.06. She was also the runner-up in the 100 Hurdles in 14.16 which is an 'A' Standard time and ranks third nationally.
Chelsee Martino finished sixth in the 400 Meter Hurdles with an NAIA 'B' Standard time of 1:04.76.
The Fire will compete again next weekend at USF's South Florida Invitational.
