Mills Headlines Strong Showing for Fire in Tampa

Strong across the board, SEU builds momentum early in outdoor season

TAMPA, Fla. — Southeastern Track & Field delivered a series of high-level performances over the weekend at the 2026 USF Alumni Invitational, highlighted by a national-leading mark and multiple conference-leading efforts at the USF Track and Field Stadium.

Leading the way for the Fire was Maci Mills, who turned in one of the top performances in the NAIA this season in the women's 800 meters. Mills placed sixth overall with a time of 2:09.38, hitting the NAIA 'A' standard while moving to No. 1 in the NAIA and the top mark in the Sun Conference. Her time also ranks second in program history, further solidifying her position as one of the nation's premier middle-distance runners.

Kevin Davis Jr. continued his strong season in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing seventh in 53.08, an NAIA 'B' standard mark that currently ranks No. 2 nationally. Teammate Cedric Johnson Jr. also cracked the national top 10 in the event, placing 10th with a time of 54.32.

In the field events, Isaiah Burns cleared 1.95 meters in the high jump to finish eighth while taking over the top mark in the Sun Conference. Burns also contributed in the long jump with a mark of 6.57 meters.

The throws group produced several notable performances, led by MarieAnge Moussignac, who placed 20th in the hammer throw with a mark of 47.68 meters. Her throw ranks No. 6 in the NAIA, No. 1 in the Sun Conference, and third in program history. Moussignac also added a shot put mark of 11.07 meters.

Emma Terry delivered a strong all-around showing in the throws, highlighted by a 12.53-meter effort in the shot put, ranking No. 7 nationally and No. 1 in the Sun Conference. She also competed in both the hammer and discus.

On the track, Jack Brooks led the Fire in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:03.29, ranking second in the conference, while the men's 4x100 relay team posted a time of 41.35.

Additional contributions came from Alyssa Morley, who recorded conference-leading marks in the high jump (1.55m) while also competing in the long jump, and Areeyanna Bonds and Ar'Briel Scott, who both placed inside the top 25 in the women's 400-meter hurdles with top-three marks in the conference.

Southeastern will look to carry that momentum into next weekend as the Fire travel to Orlando for the UCF Knights Invite, set for March 27–28. The two-day meet will provide another opportunity for SEU athletes to build on their national marks and continue climbing the NAIA performance lists.
