SEU Track & Field Delivers Standards, School Marks at South Florida Invitational

Fire post multiple NAIA qualifying marks and climb program lists across two-day meet in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. — Southeastern Track & Field turned in a productive weekend at the South Florida Invitational, highlighted by multiple NAIA qualifying standards, event victories, and several marks that reshaped the program's top-10 lists.

Day One Highlights

The Fire were led by a strong showing in the hurdles, where Kevin Davis Jr. claimed first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.98, hitting the NAIA 'B' standard. Teammate James Turner followed with a fourth-place finish (53.98), while Leland Melton added depth with a 16th-place showing.

In the field events, Isaiah Burns and Jeremiah Rutledge tied for third in the high jump, each clearing 2.00 meters—matching the top mark in program history and ranking No. 2 in The Sun Conference.

The men's 4x100m relay team of Dario Laing, Derion Ayliffe, Jesse Official, and Trebreh Brown delivered a standout performance, finishing third in 40.73. The mark tied for No. 6 in SEU history, met the NAIA 'B' standard, and currently ranks No. 9 nationally.

Laing also made noise individually, clocking a 14.35 in the 110m hurdles to secure an NAIA 'B' standard while moving to No. 1 in the conference and No. 7 nationally.

Elsewhere, Tobias Dickerson recorded a Sun Conference No. 3 mark in the 3000m steeplechase (10:15.44), while Lucky Baldwin posted a conference No. 3 mark in the hammer throw (42.66m). The Fire also saw multiple contributors in the jumps, throws, and distance events add depth performances across the board.

Day Two Highlights

The women's squad took center stage on Saturday with several high-impact performances.

Emma Terry led the way with a second-place finish in the javelin (38.79m), moving into the No. 1 spot in SEU history and No. 2 in the conference. Avery Brincat (4th) and Jazlyn Graham (5th) added strong finishes in the same event.

On the track, Olga Gomez delivered one of the top performances of the meet, placing fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.63—an NAIA 'A' standard and the No. 3 mark in program history. She later added a 'B' standard in the 100m hurdles (14.01), ranking among the top 10 nationally.

The 4x400m relay team of Areeyanna Bonds, Antiana Walsh, Maci Mills, and Jaa'Ln McBride continued Southeastern's success, placing eighth in 3:45.99. The time ranks No. 2 in program history, leads The Sun Conference, and sits No. 4 nationally while hitting the NAIA 'A' standard.

In the distance events, Jadyn DeVerna posted a strong sixth-place finish in the 3000m steeplechase (11:55.90), ranking No. 2 in both program history and the conference. Acadia Donovan also added a conference No. 2 mark in the 5000m (18:38.70).

MarieAnge Moussignac paced the throws group, recording a mark of 13.12m in the shot put to move into the top spot in both SEU history and The Sun Conference.

Maci Mills added another key performance in the 800m, finishing 10th in 2:10.97—good for No. 3 in program history while maintaining her standing as the conference leader and NAIA No. 3 overall in the event.

Southeastern will return home to host The Sun Conference Championship on April 25–26 at Tenoroc High School in Lakeland, Florida. With momentum from a strong showing in Tampa, the Fire will look to convert top conference marks into podium finishes and team points on their home track.
