ORLANDO, Fla. – Southeastern Track & Field turned in a strong showing at the UCF Knights Invite, highlighted by multiple program marks, conference-leading performances, and national qualifying standards across two days of competition.
The headline performance came from
Olga Gomez in the women's 100 meters, where she placed third in 11.32— the fastest time in SEU history. However, the mark will not count for record purposes due to a 4.8 MPH tailwind, exceeding the legal limit.
Antiana Walsh also competed in the event, placing 17th in 11.85 under the same wind-aided conditions.
On the men's side,
Dario Laing delivered a standout weekend, placing fifth in both the 110-meter hurdles (14.75) and 400-meter hurdles (52.89). His 400 hurdles time met the NAIA 'B' standard while ranking No. 3 in the SUN, No. 3 nationally, and No. 5 in program history.
Areeyanna Bonds matched that momentum on the women's side in the 400 hurdles, posting a 1:02.68 to hit the NAIA 'B' standard, while moving to No. 1 in the SUN and No. 5 nationally.
In the field events,
Emma Terry led the way with a throw of 37.79 meters in the javelin, marking the top performance in both SEU and SUN this season. Terry also contributed across multiple throwing events, while
MarieAnge Moussignac added solid finishes in the discus, shot put, and hammer. On the men's side,
Lucky Baldwin recorded a SUN No. 2 mark in the discus at 43.41 meters.
Distance events saw several notable finishes, including
Jadyn DeVerna's ninth-place result in the 3000-meter steeplechase (12:10.08), which ranks No. 2 in the SUN and No. 5 in program history.
Ashlin Price and
Acadia Donovan turned in top-three marks in the SUN in the women's 5000 meters, while
Jack Brooks posted a 1:55.54 in the 800 meters to move to No. 6 all-time at SEU.
Additional highlights included
Isaiah Burns (high jump and long jump), Jeremy Durbin (top-10 program mark in the 1500), and a deep showing in the men's 400 hurdles group, with five Fire athletes finishing in the top 22.
Southeastern will look to carry that momentum into next week as the Fire head to Daytona Beach for the Embry-Riddle Running Elements Invite, scheduled for April 2–4. The three-day meet will provide another opportunity for SEU to build on its national marks and continue climbing the conference leaderboard as the outdoor season progresses.
