GULF SHORES, Ala.—Success at the top of the lineup helped Southeastern go 1-1 during its first day of play in Gulf Shores.
The Fire swept the top three flights in a 3-2 win over William Carey and came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Mobile.
Against William Carey, Southeastern won each of the top three flights 2-0.
Grace Petty and
Sylvia Liszewski were 21-15, 21-19 winners at Flight 1,
Olivia Williams and
Emilia Harding were 21-15, 21-19 winners at Flight 2, and
Kennedy Jones and
Alexandra Postlethwaite were 21-18, 21-19 winners at Flight 3.
Flights 4 and 5 went to third sets.
Petty and Liszewski and Jones and Postlethwaite were both straight-sets winners against Mobile as well. The Fire lost two flights in third sets.
The trip will conclude tomorrow with a match against Loyola University New Orleans.
