LAKELAND, Fla.—Southeastern will be the No. 6 seed in next week's Sun Conference Men's Basketball Tournament after a 76-64 loss Saturday night at The Furnace.
The biggest differences in the game came at the 3-point line and the free throw line where Warner converted 10 3-pointers compared to six by the Fire and 12 free throws to a 6-for-18 showing by the Fire.
Warner held a 34-28 lead at halftime after connecting on six 3-pointers. In the second half, the Royals used a 9-0 run to create some separation and take a 51-37 lead with 13:50 remaining.
Southeastern got the deficit down to seven at the 8:50 mark, aided by a 3-pointer by
Joshua Blazquez but never any closer.
Blazquez led the Fire in scoring with 16 off the bench.
Reggie Mesidor added 12 points and
Amir Brikat had 10.
Anthony Duncan and
Ja'Quay Randolph had 10 rebounds each.
Southeastern will travel to third-seeded Ave Maria on Tuesday for the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament.
