PALM HARBOR, Fla.—It was a tough opening weekend for the Southeastern men's golf team at the Invite at Innisbrook.
The Fire placed 11
th in the 20-team field at the Innisbrook Resort's Copperhead course, which annually hosts the PGA TOUR's Valspar Championship.
Southeastern posted scores of 301, 310, and 302 during the 54-hole tournament over Monday and Tuesday for a total of 913. Dalton State won the event with a total of 868.
Matthew Soucinek finished in a tie for 18th place, posting an even-par round of 71 to open play and finished the tournament with rounds of 78 and 73.
Chris Greenberry was tied for 42
nd with a total of 229 (76-78-75) and
Noah Davis was tied for 64
th with a total of 234 (77-79-78).
Zachary Shaw finished in a tie for 69
th at 235 (77-76-82) and
Marley Read was 94
th with a total of 244 (90-78-76).
Adam Crawley participated as an individual and placed 91
st with a score of 243 (91-74-78).
Next up for the Fire is the NAIA Championship Preview at Dalton Golf and Country Club next Monday and Tuesday.
