TAVARES, Fla.—Southeastern closed the 2023 beach volleyball season with a second-place finish at the AVCA Small College Nationals over the weekend at Hickory Point.
The Fire went 1-1 in pool play, defeating Warner 3-0 behind a straight-sets win by
Kennedy Jones and
Ryanne VanWyk at Pair 3 and a pair of three-set wins by
Grace Petty and
Alexandra Postlethwaite at Pair 1 and
Emily Eurice and
Chloe Rhodes at Pair 4.
Southeastern dropped its second pool match against Webber International 3-0 to set up a matchup with Mobile in the Champions Bracket semifinal. The Fire advanced to the final with a 3-0 win over the Rams, getting wins from Petty and Postlethwaite, Eurice and Rhodes, and
Holly Kaczmarek and
Emilia Harding at Pair 5.
In the championship against Webber, the Fire got their lone point in a 3-1 loss from Kaczmarek and Harding by the scores of 21-12 and 21-14. They finished the season with a team-best record of 13-4.
Southeastern finished the season 10-10.
