NEW ORLEANS—Southeastern boasts two of the top teams in the first edition of the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Outdoor Track and Field Rating Index released this afternoon.
The men's team checks in at first and the women's team is second after two strong showings to start the outdoor season.
The women are second behind the University of British Columbia which won the NAIA outdoor title last season. Powered by 11 top 10 performances so far.
Tenae Grigsby has the top time in the 400 Hurdles at 1:00.42 and is fifth in the 100 Hurdles at 14.46. She is also part of the 4x400 Relay team which is second at 3:49.97.
Toni Canfall is third in the 100 at 11.93 and is also part of the 4x400.
Namiah Simpson is third in the 400 at 56.5 and in the 400 Hurdles at 1:02.2.
The men's team holds a score of 515.51 in the first rating with British Columbia second at 432.42. Currently, Southeastern has 18 top 10 performances and five No. 1 marks.
Keishon Franklin has a part of three of those marks with legs on the 4x400 team which clocked 3:11.26 and the 4x100 team which posted a 40.35. Personally, Franklin recorded a 46.65 400 Meter time last weekend at UCF.
James Williamson III adds the top 200 time at 20.73, is third in the 100 at 10.38, and is part of both relays.
John Perez-Dunn is the first Steeplechase qualifier in program history and has the top time at 9:23.21.
The teams will be back in action this weekend at the Spikes Classic in Daytona Beach.
