All-American Efforts Highlight Day Two for Southeastern Track & Field

Poulin takes silver in race walk as Fire continue competition Friday in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Southeastern added two All-American finishes Thursday at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship at Karl Straus Track, moving into a tie for seventh in the women's team standings with 10 points through nine scored events.

Ashlyn Poulin led the Fire with a national runner-up finish in the 5,000-meter race walk, crossing in 24:45.07. The performance earned Poulin NAIA All-American honors and moved her to No. 2 in program history in the event. Juliet Letherbarrow also competed in the race walk, finishing 16th in 32:50.74.

The women's 4x800-meter relay team of Jaa'Ln McBride, Marie DeVerna, Ariana Stevens, and Maci Mills added another All-American finish for Southeastern, placing seventh in 9:15.72.

Alyssa Morley finished just outside scoring position in the triple jump, placing 11th with a mark of 11.68 meters, which ranks seventh in SEU history.

On the track, Olga Gomez placed 16th in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 11.96. Areeyanna Bonds was 22nd in the 400-meter hurdles prelims in 1:02.65. Mills and McBride both competed in the 800-meter prelims, with Mills finishing 14th in 2:12.88 and McBride taking 16th in 2:14.84.

On the men's side, Kodi Quimby posted the No. 2 time in program history in the 5,000-meter race walk, finishing 15th in 24:39.07.

The NAIA Outdoor National Championship concludes Friday with field events beginning at 9 a.m. and track events starting at 2:30 p.m. Live coverage of the meet will be available through Urban Edge Network.
